dc.descriptionABSTRACT The extraordinary secretariat for Racial Equality of Maranhão (SEIR) was inaugurated in Maranhão in 2007 acting with the objective to act against the racial inequalities that permeate the Maranhão society through public policies. With the main objective of evaluating such policies implemented by SEIR, the present study presents an analysis carried out through bibliographic, documental and field research. Classified as a descriptive research, qualitative approach and procedures, such as a case study and documentary research, also used as an instrument for data collection a questionnaire forwarded to the Secretary-adjunct of the organ. The research identified advances in the actions of the Secretariat within the Flávio Dino government compared to previous governments, However, it detected deficiencies in the administrative structure that lasts through the management.pt_BR
