Resumo

Research on the BA in Visual Arts in distance mode in Brazil, the study of cases from the Federal University of Maranhão and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in search of understanding of instructional design, structure and curriculum development teaching these courses. The study used variants of the same for the two courses studied, in order to find similarities and differences in each aspect analyzed. In order to support the study considers the current historical moment called post-modernity and its implications in art and educational use of digital information and communication and cyberculture and demands arising out of this global reality for education in a way general and especially for the issues pertaining to teacher education through distance education considering its trajectory globally and nationally, as well as the Brazilian legislation and public policies for this type of education. After analyzing the official documents and teaching projects, it was concluded that the courses of Bachelor of Visual Arts in Brazil are in accordance with the requirements for teaching in contemporary art, since they consider the students' prior knowledge, insert the digital technologies of information and communication in educational practices and appreciate the local culture to globalization, besides being in accordance with current legislation for national education.
