It understands the dematerialized music as the music which migrates from physical supports (LP, CD, K7, DVD) to the virtual environment. It applies a form envolving 76 listeners in order to comprehend how they deal with such music, from the point of view of the technologies used by them and the habits and perceptions developed in their reception. It presents the cultural industry as a condition of the rising of the materialized music, from which it is dematerialized. It lists the main reception theories. It problematizes the digital culture in its potentialities and contradictions. It discusses the download culture.
